Understanding citation statuses
Statuses show where a citation is in its lifecycle, from when it’s first issued by an officer to when it’s finalized and no longer editable.
Submitted
After a citation is issued by the officer, the citation is in the Submitted status.
This means the citation has been created and submitted from the officer’s device, and it is now available for review and processing.
Edited
The Edited status means the citation was changed after it was submitted.
This usually happens when someone updates the citation during review, such as correcting a name, updating a charge, or fixing court information.
Reviewed
The Reviewed status means the citation has been reviewed and is ready to be approved.
This status can be used by a supervisor, clerk, or prosecutor to indicate that the citation is ready for the next step.
Voided
The Voided status means the citation has been cancelled.
Voided citations will not be exported to the court.
Approved
The Approved status means the citation is eligible to be exported to the court’s records system.
Exported
The Exported status means the citation has been exported to the court’s records system.
Exported citations cannot be edited.
